52 Weeks Project| Week 2 | Wake the Warrior

"She needed a hero. So that's what she became."

Do not kill if you can wound.
Do not wound if you can subdue.
And don't raise your hand at all
until you at first extended it.

Nestled beneath the surface, a fire burns. A fire burning so deep,
the walls of kingdoms rumble. A fighter is ignited and the danger surrounding is no longer, for I became it. A danger to all that is
unjust, evil, and dark against this world.

BEHIND THE SCENES

This week's image is all about unlocking your inner warrior. And embracing being that warrior. To take a stand on what you believe in and follow through with it whole-heartedly.

Being a warrior doesn't just mean fighting with your fists and physical strength, but with your mind, ideology, and mentality. That embracing your inner strength comes before any outer strength can be recognized. And making a decision on where you stand and what you are willing to fight for.

We all have a warrior inside of us. Do you know how to unlock yours?

Here is this weeks behind the scenes video if you want to see how this image was photographed, edited, and created.

And a few more outtakes that were considered as the final image:

52 Weeks Project | Week 1 | A Call for Adventure

“Life has no meaning. Each of us has meaning and we bring it to life. It is a waste to be asking the question when you are the answer.”
― Joseph Campbell

This week kicks off the start to my new 52 weeks project! If you are unfamiliar with what that is, it's where you take one photo every week for a whole year centered around some sort of theme. And my theme is going to be self portraiture.

This week’s photo is actually inspired by a man named Joseph Campbell. He said that mythology and almost all story telling in general follows a basic formula he calls “The Hero’s Journey”. Which involves a hero who goes on an adventure, and in a decisive crisis wins a victory, and then comes home changed or transformed.

And although I’m not jumping on my white horse, sword in hand, ready to go out into the night and fight the evils of the world, I do hope to use this little project of mine to embrace some inner reflection and go on my own personal ‘hero’s journey’. After going through the darkest period of my life, I need to redefine myself and figure out all that I am, was, and want to be. So, my hope, at the very least, will be to create some space for myself each week to make some new art and reflect on different pieces of me to do this very thing.

Also, kind of random, but I hope to create a behind the scenes video each week during this project. And so, here is this weeks and my process for making this photo.
