Leo's Halloween Costume 2019 // Brooke Townsend Photography

In case you didn’t know, my son’s name is Leo and he’s completely obsessed with space.

He’s only 3 and a half and this kiddo knows every single planet, in order from the sun all the way out to the farthest reaches of the solar system. And can even identify dwarf planets and their locations as well.

He’s even told me the names of some of the moons of the different planets completely on his own. Some of which he taught ME because I didn’t even know they existed.

And what’s absolutely magical to me is that he’s taught almost all of this to himself thanks to his little nerdy heart constantly watching science/math related YouTube videos and the books he likes to read with us. (I seriously can’t get him interested in watching anything else right now lol!)

So, you can only guess what his answer was when I asked him what he wanted to be for Halloween this year.

An Astronaut <3_<3

And since this year’s costume is just so special to his actual loves and interests, I wanted to take the photos next level and take him on a little nature walk through Clifton Gorge and let him just play and pretend to be a real life astronaut. So we pretended to moon jump and find different specimens and looked for “space creatures” and I’m just so thankful to have these little photos to remember this time.

So, enjoy these little nuggets of my little astronaut <3

Forest Nymph Cosplay with Holly Denham // Halloween Mini Series // Brooke Townsend Photography

These photos have been sitting inside my digital archives since fall of last year. I can’t believe it’s taken me over a y e a r to get some of these edited and played with. But, alas, here we are!!

So excited that these photos finally made the cut for this weeks Halloween post and I honestly had so much fun editing them too! My model is my sister who did this entire makeup look herself.. believe it or not… for less than $20!! She is such a multi-talented lady boss to say the least. On top of doing makeup looks and all sorts of other avenues she can channel her creativity in, she’s an artist too. Feel free to check out her work below!

Viking Cosplay with Captain Dangerous // Halloween Mini Series // Brooke Townsend Photography

“Out of the night that covers me, black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be for my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance, my head is bloody but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears looms but the horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years finds and shall find me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, how charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.”

Invictus by Willam Henley

This Viking cosplay shoot was made possible from some super awesome and amazingly talented friends of mine all coming together to bring their best skills to light.

Model - Kyleigh Grace Parker/Captain Dangerous
Makeup - Holly Denham
Hair - Hannah Mosser
Costume - Amazon purchase distressed and styled by myself

This shoot with Kyleigh and this incredible team together was an absolute blast. My sister, Holly, did an incredible job doing the makeup for this shoot and Hannah blew it out of the water with pulling it altogether with that hair styling. Not to mention, it was really fun to get my creative hands on something a little different for this shoot and getting to distress Kyleigh’s costume with some good ol’ fashioned painting and fabric sanding to really put the final touches on this look together.

By the time we got the makeup, hair, and outfit altogether, I only had about 30 minutes left of light!! And Ky did an AWESOME job getting into character super fast as we raced against the setting sun through Ault Park in Cincinnati for this super bad ass shoot together. Cannot wait to do more of these in the upcoming months with this incredibly talented team!! Here’s some behind the scenes to enjoy :)
