The boots are laced
and hair in her face
from the wind that carries her
away from this place.
She is a wizard
of all this wandering,
the illusionist who vanishes
without the need for applause.
She is the footprints
leading to the horizon,
the wind swept erasing
of the direction she went.
She is the wild blue in the yonder,
the walking to stay sane;
She is the lust on wander,
and the adventure in vein.

We just returned home from one of the most incredible trips I've ever been on in Banff, Alberta. It was the first time I had ever gotten to really explore any of Canada. Not to mention see real, full sized mountains and their snow topped peaks. And if that wasn't enough, I also got to witness the most incredible night sky of my entire life - and was able to document some of it.

It's almost overwhelming for me. The amount of inspiration and beauty this place was to me. Because it's no secret that I'm a winter lover. And although most people flee far away from the snow, I have always found a sort of solace in it. A completeness. A peace amongst the silence it demands. And a cozy in the cold, biter breezes.

This particular forest is actually nicknamed "The Snow Forest" because there is almost always snow on these trees no matter what time of year. And there was something about the whole thing that took me over and I felt completely consumed by it - in the best possible ways - that it is one of the highlights of our trip up there for me. So, of course this week had to be dedicated to it.

I'll be posting a ton more photos from the trip in their own designated blogs. But for now, here's a few iphone snaps to tide you over :P
