52 Weeks Project | Week 16 | The Ways of the Force

There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.

If you know me, it is no secret how big of a Star Wars fan I have always been. (EVEN BEFORE IT WAS COOL)

And I could spend the entire blog post here talking about why that is and how much it has impacted my life (gave me role models, is the reason my husband and I met, etc), but honestly that's not what I want this whole thing to be about.

You see, even though Star Wars is a fictional storyline, it has so many relatable situations, characters, and stories that can cross into our own lives. A lot of us grew up with it being a major root in our childhood. And because of that, It's become a monumental pillar in pop culture and across the world to a point where most everybody - all 7.5 billion of us - knows at least what it is even if they've never seen it.

And a lot of people, including myself, have even adopted the philosophical values the mega series has to offer for inspiration, guidance, and even as a way to live out life.

And what has drawn me most to the series is the ways of the force. How the force is this unseeable thing that connects all lifeforms together. That it's something force sensitive beings in the Star Wars universe can draw power from and use it for good, or for evil. And that the contrast is undeniably similar to the struggles we face in our real, everyday lives. And how we choose to live out our own stories.

And me? I'm always thinking about how I want to write my own story. And how it's being written everyday. But what do I want to stand for? Live for?

Well, I will always stand for the light.

To embrace the ways of life similar to that of the Jedi. To embrace the light, fight for good causes, and live out a balanced existence in such a messy world. To be a peacemaker first, but never be afraid to fight when it's needed most. To listen outwardly with others, but internally as well to yourself and the connection you have to the rest of the universe. That the connection to the universe is a connection to every living thing all around you - through the force - where you can draw strength and power from when it is needed most. And with the connection you feel through the force, you are never truly alone within this vast universe.

On a lighter note, I just got this lightsaber as an excuse to dress up REAL fancy for my nephew's 5th birthday party 2 Saturdays ago! I've been WAITING for an excuse to really dive in deep, make a costume, and get myself a real, custom lightsaber (Thanks Ultrasabers).

This saber is their Initiate v4 with their basic soundboard built in (oh yes, it makes ALL the sounds!!)

The reason I'm late getting this up though is because of 2 things - 1, this lightsaber didn't actually arrive for the party! It was late due to Hurricane Harvey, being shipped from Texas and all. And then also, last week was a WHIRLWIND. So much has happened, I feel like this would turn into a novel easily. So, I decided it was ok to post this a few days late, get some nice photos, and turn it into something fun.... late :)

Because honestly, getting this saber is literally a DREAM. COME. TRUE.

I felt like an 8 year old at Christmas.

Anyway, I thought I'd go ahead and end this post with a slideshow of photos for what this whole thing was inspired by - my nephew's 5th birthday party, Star Wars theme of course!! Hosted by yours truly, decor all hand made by my sister (Fun Fact, she's one of my second shooters at weddings!), and our momma made all the desserts. We all make a pretty good team together :)

May the force be with you. Always.
